A chimney must be built in such a way that it neither poses a fire hazard nor the risk of explosion, smoke poisoning, harmful condensation or other health problems. In addition, since 2002 there has been a requirement that the coverings should not contain lead.
Regardless of whether you install a new metal chimney, build a new chimney or renovate an existing chimney, you must also ensure that the penetration in the roof does not impair the building’s fire resistance. You can, among other things, do by using the correct joint when the covering is to be installed.
