Cracks between floors and walls can increase the home owner’s heat consumption by 5-10 per cent and cause unpleasant drafts along the floors. The most optimal solution is often to remove the old floor covering and lay a new floor. A less drastic solution is to dismantle the skirting boards and instead grout the joints with a suitable sealant.
